How it All Began..
A Little World Inside a Stone
When I was little, my father held a slice of dendritic agate up to the light and said, “Look inside. Can you see the little trees?"
I was amazed. The natural formations inside the stone looked like a tiny landscape. I remember thinking it was one of the coolest things I had ever seen. ♥
That sense of wonder never really left me.
My father had collected minerals and gemstones since he was a child, so the mineral world was simply part of my life growing up. Rocks, crystals, gemstones, and eventually Reiki all grew from that same curiosity.
Listening to the Stones
Traditional gemstone correspondences can give us a useful place to begin. But after decades of working with stones, I've learned to pay attention to what actually happens when you spend time with one.
Pay Attention to What You Notice
- How does it feel when you hold it?
- What do you notice when you meditate with it?
- How do you feel when you wear it?
- Or keep it near you?
- Do you sleep with it nearby?
Sometimes your experience lines up beautifully with what the books say. Sometimes a stone surprises you.
Some of what I know about gemstones comes from traditional properties. But most of it comes from years of working with them in my own life and with clients.
